Since March 2023 the UZH Science Pavilion hosts an ongoing exhibition developed by the Pavilion's team together with Corinna Ulcigrai and built around her research — with slow chaos, and in particular polygonal billiards as the central theme.
I've been a guide there for two years. I've lead free public tours, where visitors can learn about the mathematics behind unfolding a polygonal table as well as open research questions.
We also run extended workshops for school groups, working on specific problems like the illumination problem and cutting sequences for billiards in a square. Rather than lecturing, we let students explore so that they arrive at the key ideas through their own experimentation.
In addition, I also organised a guided tour for a high school class through the University campus and the Billiards exhibition, followed by coffee and a meet and greet with current mathematics students.
In October 2025, at the Science Pavilion we put together a teacher training day for upper-school mathematics teachers, aimed at giving some new and fresh ideas for what to bring into the classroom. I was one of four organisers, where on my part I developed a sample lesson on the logistic map — inspired by a great Veritasium video on the topic — to show how a bit of seemingly simple math can open the door to chaos theory.
In August 2021, I travelled to Moshi in Tanzania and worked together with the organization Give A Heart to Africa for a month while teaching mathematics. The organization aims to empower local women by providing one year of free education during which they learn basic skills in order to build up their own local business.
